Dr Oz Menopause: I just realized that rhymes!
Well, last week I got the call that was music to my ears. His name was Elliot and he was a Senior Manager with the agency in New York for Sharecare–the popular online platform founded by Jeff Arnold & Dr Oz because they found that 86% of all online health information is inaccurrate.
I admit, I was a little shocked and skeptical at first. “Who? Me?”
However, if Elliot didn’t have me at “Dr Oz”, he certainly had me at “86% of all online health information is inaccurate.”
That is precisely the driver behind Menopause Chicks. We were frustrated and overwhelmed with the amount of conflicting and confusing information “Dr Google” was feeding me at three in the morning!
So I listened…and decided I would embrace everything Elliot was telling me.
Sharecare (created by Dr Oz) names its Top 10 Social Healthmakers on Menopause
On September 5th, in recognition of Menopause Awareness Month, Sharecare is naming its Top 10 Social Healthmakers on Menopause: a list of the experts and patient advocates leading online conversations about menopause…. and Menopause Chicks is #5 (and the sole Canadian!)
Again, Elliot was using more language that we love: “patient advocate” & “leading online conversations”. I was in!
Yesterday was the announcement, and I am so honoured to share the opportunity with this distinguished list. I have not met any of these advocates in person (yet!), however the twitter & online menopause community is alive & well! I invite you to check out their work:

How was this list chosen?
According to Elliot:
Sharecare Social HealthMakers are among the most influential people in health and wellness on the web, driving conversations on the leading edge of many health topics. They address a wide range of issues within specific topic areas while demonstrating consistent impact across multiple interactive channels—such as Twitter, Facebook, videos and blogs. This impact is measured through a proprietary algorithm based on more than 100 individual metrics developed and powered by WCG, the marketing-leading digital communications agency, quantifying topic relevance, syndication, presence & reach.
Sharecare is a health and wellness social engagement platform that helps people to live healthier lives by connecting them to personalized resources including high-quality information from national experts, interactive tools and local healthcare providers. The power behind the site is its groundbreaking and popular, scientifically-based health risk assessment, the RealAge Test, taken by more than 30 million people since its inception in 1998, and a unique, social Q &A format that provides the collective wisdom of America’s top experts–greatly simplifying the search for health information.
Created by Jeff Arnold and Dr. Mehmet Oz in partnership with Harpo Productions, Sony Pictures Television and Discovery Communications, Sharecare allows people to ask, learn and act upon questions of health and wellness, creating an active community where knowledge is shared and put into practice—simply said, sharing care. Launched in 2010, Sharecare is based in Atlanta, GA.
