Because navigating perimenopause & menopause can be expensive!

Three years ago, I wrote this blog post which garnered a number of shares and great feedback and discussion in the Menopause Chicks Private Online community. I am envisioning a future where inability to pay is not a barrier for a woman to access the professional expertise and support she needs for optimal midlife health.

If you add up the cost of books, naturopathic services, hormone therapy and vitamins, you can quickly get to thousands of dollars. Even though I have extended medical benefits, it still seems like a lot of out-of-pocket expenses. For me, I invested in all those approaches, plus a yoga membership, chiropractic care, physiotherapy, massage therapy and acupuncture.

For some women, this investment is well worth it because the payoff is huge in terms of quality of life. But for others, with or without extended health coverage, this kind of spend isn’t feasible without going into debt. And that just adds to the overwhelm.

Now imagine a bursary, or scholarship or general pool of available funding (and potential access to pro-bono services donated by health professionals too) where women challenged by available resources can apply for support so they too can take advantage of the same professional information & preventative measures.
